THE
BUSINESS MEETING Larry Paulausky, chapter 18 vice
chair, opened the meeting (held at WXPN/World Cafe Live). There was no
business discussed. Thanks was made to Donald Train
of Train's Towers for sponsoring the pizza and sandwiches which were provided
by Allegro Pizza of University City. THE
PRESENTATION The presenter for the September meeting was Donald Train
of Train's Towers. Train's presentation covered the safety procedures
relative to the new TIA/EIA 222-G Standard
which incorporates sweeping changes to how the tower industry operates. A
strong focus of the presentation dealt with Wireless Estimator, a
website operated by a former newspaperman that contains many topics dealing
with tower construction and the like. Topics within the presentation dealt with: *Elements of construction *Windspeed and its relation to
tower construction *FAA & FCC and how they relate to the lighting and
painting situation *Grounding *Building permits *Various case studies *Safety plan Donald Train brought in Al DiImperio
of the Occupational and Safety Hazards Administration (OSHA). His
presentation dealt with various aspects of the federal agency and its
relation to the broadcast industry, especially a primer on how to stay
clean when dealing with OSHA when construction of your tower is in effect
and how to keep your sites within
OSHA guidelines. |
