Mark Humphrey, Chapter Chair, called the meeting to order,
discussing the following topics: SBE @ NAB, the new synchronized renewals/certification
process, the membership recruitment program, awards and the Harris
presentation with Geoff Mendenhall. Mark also noted that Larry Bloomfield
will not be in the
THE PRESENTATION
The presentation was made by Cedric Taylor of Mackay Communications on the new Immarsat BGAN system. Cedric presented an excellent multimedia presentation on the system. The presentation started with a backgrounder on the company and what BGAN is, its capabilities, BGAN value added services, BGAN coverage and schedule and the terminals used (and their introduction time). The presentation also included how BGAN can be utilized by and the cost benefits to broadcasters including a demonstration on the very user-friendly Uniform MMI Software.
