REVIEW OF
THE
BUSINESS MEETING
The May meeting of Chapter 18 of the Society of Broadcast
Engineers was held at the fourth floor conference room of Greater Philadelphia
Radio Group,
Mark Humphrey, Chapter 18 Chair, opened the meeting by
discussing awards, new certification statuses, national elections and the SBE's new software tool--the SBE Toolbox. He also mentioned
that he is, as of 31 May, no longer with Radio One--
Mark also mentioned that Ben Hill, of WIP Radio (Infinity
Broadcasting) is sponsoring the "SBEBq" on
Larry will discussed the FCC issues stating that the FCC has
a DTV rollout time set and also discussed the new 222G Tower Standard that is
awaiting ANSI approval. The standard has created new categories and will affect
many, especially those in high wind areas. Most of the towers in this area are
C and D standard. Accidents led to the change of standards. Though safer, the
new standard will drive up costs.
Thanks go to Larry Paulausky, John
Arndt and Angela Lofton and to Dave Hultsman of
Continental Electronics for hosting the meeting and sponsoring the pizza dinner
(which came from Allegro Pizza) respectively.
