Presentation 1: The Switch

The Switch was founded in 1991 to provide cost-effective, customer-controlled television signal routing services to broadcasters in New York City. Today, The Switch serve 46 cities via their Inter-City On Demand “ICOD” 20 Gbps Mesh Network. 


The presenters will talk briefly about local video circuit solutions, 1+1 hitless switching and the ability to transmit 270 Mbps SDI, ASI, Uncompressed HD-SDI, JPEG2000 HD, 3G Uncompressed and 4k. Additionally, The Switch will introduce its new venue service solution, FIVENINES, a fully protected Stadium to MCR solution for High Definition Video and scalable Ethernet transport for Broadcasters. 


Janel Fleming – Account Executive, The Switch. Janel is a graduate of Florida State University, majoring in Business Management. She began her career in broadcast telecommunication in 2010 and has been with The Switch for over 4 years.


David Shearer – VP Sales, The Switch. David is a graduate of San Diego State University’s Department of Telecommunications and Film and a thirty year broadcast industry veteran. David joined The Switch in 2009 as VP Sales, NY.


Presentation 2: KYW Newsradio Integration

Last year, KYW Newsradio 1060 was integrated into the CBS Philadelphia Broadcast Center. Staff from both CBS operations and the integrator will discuss the opportunities and challenges of combining the radio and TV news operations.


Marc Musgrove, Director - Broadcast Operations & Engineering for the CBS Philadelphia Broadcast Center. Marc led the TV and facilities engineering team that assisted CBS Radio’s integration into the Broadcast Center.


Glynn Walden, Senior Vice President - Engineering for CBS Radio. Glynn managed the design and construction of the new radio facility from initial concept through completion.

Dan Braverman, President and Founder of Radio Systems, Inc., a local manufacturer and integrator of professional radio broadcast equipment. Dan and his team were responsible for the design, integration, and construction of the radio technical facilities.
